Too many issues uncertain here to see clearly. If the boxers are DSD athletes, then competitive fairness and safety is at stake. But we simply don't know, because of reasons of personal medical privacy, dodgy international sporting organisations etc. The phrases "assigned female at birth and identified as female on documents" etc annoys me because it potentially ignores a sporting reality, that if practitioners got the birth identification "wrong" and these are in fact XY people with DSD who have "male" strength and developmental advantages. I wonder if the use of that slightly ambiguous phrase is disguising the fact that there are chromosomal issues at play here, but the absence of an agreed and definitive test is allowing the uncertainty to persist? |

It's my understanding that this thread is here to support non-elite people find ways to get involved in, and feel accepted and safe, whilst participating in exercise and sport. Discussion about the rights and wrongs of policies in high level sport might be better suited to either the Transgender Athletes thread: fetcheveryone.com/forum/transgender-athletes-60992/ or maybe the Olympics Paris 2024 thread: fetcheveryone.com/forum/olympics-paris-2024-62931/ |
