Just got in in time to turn the repeat on ITV +1 and miss the crash, but see the aftermath.

I thought honour was dead but it looked to me like Cancellara was holding his group back to wait for the crash victims. Was I misinterpreting things?

And the finish, which I'm just watching now, is some sort of strike/protest, right? What was the issue? Dangerous course?

Yes, Cancellara held everyone back from contesting anything today.

He was probably right in the GC but once it all came together some people say he should have let the sprinters sprint... but he didnt', which was good for cav as he was back helping a teammate so nowhere near the front.

In the ITV4 highlights program did they mention anything about the Schleck brothers being OK? I missed it! At the side of the road while he was waiting for a bike Andy Schleck looked in a bit of a state, but obviously managed to carry on - although it wouldn't be the first time a cyclist has carried on with broken bones etc!!

the schleck's team staff said they were bruised and battered but basically ok.. but that was immediately on finishing, not sure if anything will come to light over night.

And I've just heard them talking about the route tomorrow. Do they do the Wallers Arenberg from Paris-Roubaix near the end?

Not sure whether it was honour or team interest from Cancellara, weren't the Schlecks further back? Either way waiting was the right thing to do.

Ah, true enough, SPR. I wasn't listening to the commentary and I have to admit that I hadn't made the connection there. So enlightened self interest rather than honour. Makes sense but it's still nice to see.

Self-interest, team orders?
