Maybe PL, but he used the Giro as a training ride and didn't exactly set it alight. I wonder whether Brad just went too far with the weight loss obsession and started to lose power/muscle/endurance?

Did you see Cav's quote as to why he won by so much yesterday? Apparently because it was the last day he just let rip rather than saving something for the next day like he has in the previous sprints :) Must be nice for the other sprinters to know that he was just taking it a bit easy in all those other stages :)

Contador is planning to do the Giro but I wonder whether he will skip the Tour.

Well that was a fantastic Tour.
No Doping allegations/findings yet-Landis excepted of course.
Highlights for me
Geraint on the cobbles, the Mende stage, Cav blubbing then smashing everyone afterwards, Vino being aggressively questionned, the helicopter cameramen, Harmon and Kelly being so much better than ever before. A great fight between Contador and Schleck
Lowlights

ITV commentary by Liggett and Sherwen so bad that I watched the highlights without sound and after 4 days abandoned watching it at all, the mountain stages were an anti-climax for me but I hope that this means a clean race and maybe something that we will have to get used to and will only highlight how performances were "helped" in past years; Wiggins being so out of form and Sky talking up a good race but with one exception performing poorly but they will learn from that I'm sure, Vino still refusing to be contrite.

I thought the ITV4 coverage was good, especially as it's free - what's wrong with their commentary? I can't understand a word Kelly says on Eurosport.

Wiggo pulled out of the Giro didn't he, to save himself for the TdF? He just seemed to be off-form from the start (poor prologue), whereas at the Giro he won the 1st stage. Just didn't peak at the right time if you ask me, or maybe he just lost a bit too much weight at the expense of power.

I'd say Wiggo just isn't good enough to be up there with the big boys, nothing to do with lack of form, too much hype and pressure on him after last years great performance - probably a one off. When you consider he's ended up in similar positions to Evans, Basso, Armstrong, Sastre he's not done too bad at all - OK all had different reasons to not be higher up the GC but he didn't do so bad.

Jury's still out on Wiggo....could be one bad Tour, or one great one last year. I do wonder whether this could be Andy Schlecks high water mark as well. I just wonder whether Contador wasn't in top shape this year. He didn't look good in either TT and Andy's TT was good in the sense it was close to Contador rather than good compared to Menchov....we'll see next year I guess. Personally I'm hoping it stays close between those two for a few years

I thought the ITV coverage was great this year. Really nice 2 hour round up programme last night which is recorded for something to look back at on those dark winter nights.
