Did a chunk of that yesterday, lovely - and didn't see a bloody soul. View from Calf Top back to Ingleborough, Great Coum and Whernside outstanding - some gorgeous heather beds intersected by some deep, snake-like riverlets, I've never seen the like anywhere else. I'd be interested to hear what you make of them.

Looking forward to it. We are camping in Dent but driving to Barbon to start there with cafe stop back here at lunchtime. Very quiet yesterday away from Whernside, which was mithered with three peakers, even at 5pm. Took Pennine Journey route North off top past the tarns. Again deserted

I posted this on the min footwear thread, but thought people here might be able to help...
I probably need new fell / trail shoes soon... but my preferred inov8 x talon 200 seems to be unavailable (again) at the moment. Does anybody have a suggestion for similar lightweight low stack fell shoe sort of thing for a wide foot with a bunion? Any views on x talon 255? Thanks.

Today I ran from Settle to Ingleton via Ingleborough, pretty quiet despite the weather but wow so many stones. Feet are hurting now.
I'm clearly not cut out for fell running as I got annoyed with the gates as they are too heavy to open most of the time. Free arm workout I suppose π
I'm hoping to get up Calf top, but I ran around the bottom of it via Barbon on Saturday. Got lost somewhere near a fancy house trying to get back to Casterton.
Definitely also in need of some new trail shoes so I'll keep an eye out for recommendations for Jacdaw.

Jacdaw, the 255 is supposedly an identical geometry and fit to the 200. Like you, my stash of 200s is slowly expiring and I guess it won't be long before I have to stump up and buy some 255s.

Jacdaw - in the Inov8 range then yep, the Talon 255 is the widest ( 4 on the Inov8 1-5 categorisation ) fell shoe and if looking for more of a trail/fell, ie less grip then the Trailtalon 235 is similar width - difference in stud length X-talon are 8mm and Tailtalon 4mm. You can filter all the shoes on the Inov8 site by width
VJ are all pretty narrow, are as Salomon, not sure about LaSportiva not used them before.

Oh dear Curly, if you think that that was stony you ain't seen nuthin' yet π Seriously though, you do get used to it. Stick with it and before long it will all seem very normal.

Difficult to show on a photo but hereβs a 200 9 1/2 insole on top of a 255 10 insole.
Possibly easier to see in the shoe

NE: Why are all the paths littered with stones though? Tis weird, but it's seems to have been done intentionally. It was the same in Scotland actually, it's almost impossible to hike or run on.
Whereas in the alps (my usual holiday location) its mostly boulders fallen down the mountain which is fine π
