DT - spot on. iiirc there was a fuss a few years ago when they closed the previously open private path and started to charge for it.

Bobs and I quite regularly do a run that starts in Ingleton, climbs Ingleborough and Whernside then follows the wall line all the way back to Ingleton, I remember well when the landowners put controls and access restrictions in place to stop you running through the falls. It's not really a problem though, you just run (fall) off Twistleton End and then back over the stepping stones to White Scar Caves, it does involve the smallest piece of -ahem - stepping off access land. We normall then climb behind White Scar and over the limestone pavement at the top before descending back to Ingleton, it's a nice circuit.
The cattle incident earlier is right there in 3Ps territory.

Oddly I've never been down Twistleton Dale between the Hill Inn and Ingleton.
I have been down Kingsdale/Deepdale on t'other side of the hill though, which is just a marvelous part of the country

Twistleton End is a fell-runners delight - steep (very) and grassy, brakes required before dry stone wall impact though!

Pretty sure I've run that exact route 
Now we're allowed out I've been wondering about a trip up to Ingleton for some bigger hills.

The above conversation sort of inspired me to get out there while the weather was still decent and I did the full route yesterday, too bloody hot for running really but enjoyed it. I went down Twistleton End as fast as bodily pain would allow, still great fun I tell you one thing though, that's the last flipping time I go down the Swinetail off Ingleborough, it's getting worse and is just an awful descent, don't know why I do it when I know there's a perfectly reasonable line straight off the top of Ingleborough. Looks like some work has been done on the summit shelter, it was all nice and repointed, I did think I had sunstroke for a moment because as I came onto the summit plateau I saw a cement mixer shimmering in the haze and you do doubt yourselves sometimes I made it about 16.4 miles back to the little car park above Ingleton and just shy of 4,000ft. Recommended.

Where's does you line off the top head? I dislike that descent (and it's not much more fun heading up!) , but always tend to follow the main paths as never had the time to explore properly.

I aim for a sheep duck on wall line that runs parallel to the main path, I'll see if I can find a GPS trace. The trick is getting the right line off the top, as of course a good bit of it is limestone terrace (ie. cliffs).

Cheers. Having had a look at that on the OS 3D aerial mapping, the route down off the summit through the cliffs isn't obvious I think it's one to look at carefully
