My parents first visited Ulverston in the 1960s having recently moved into the area. They were surprised, when looking for some lunch, that the café was closed. It had a sign on the door, that said... 'Closed for lunch' |

It had a sign on the door, that said... 'Closed for lunch' Salmon’s Cafe & Bakery, and yes they always closed for lunch right up to when they retired and shut the shop in the 80’s or 90’s 🤣🤣🤣 |

When I lived in Plymouth, there was a chip shop on our street which closed for lunch. Turned out it was primarily to launder drugs money and the employees were not too fussed about actually cooking and serving food.

There was a chip shop just up the road from us in Birmingham that we suspected of being a money laundering front, based on the fact that if we sent one child to get one small portion of chips they'd come back with enough chips to feed the family for a week.
