Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Heading SE to Hayle or SW ? From my experience the bit from Hayle to Lelant isn't worth it, unless ticking a box for completion. All next to a busy road and (fairly smelly) mud. The sand dunes eithe side of the estuary are good though! Enjoy

We didn’t bother with Leland, just over the dunes to Hayle from Upper Towans then back along the beach.
We had some steep, sandy climbs to deal with. Being retired isn’t all that easy, you know…

We had to have a Philps pasty as well as Mr B’s ice cream (I didn’t think to take photos)

Day off today and I made it productive even with a slight long lie. I could get used this life rather quickly.

Got an update on my pension pot earlier, it’s went up more in the last year than I intend to take out annually, so that’s promising.

No kids to leave anything to anyway.

As WW keeps reminding me, today should have been my last day. I think the three day thing will work out. I hope!

I did have an interesting conversation with my immediate line manager though, where I said that I wasn’t sure I’d get very far past next June. “We only agreed the three day week based on the fact you said you would stay until 2025” to which my reply was “well I’m still only on three months’ notice”

One of my final pieces of work before leaving was to produce a proposal for a retirement policy. Possibly a futile exercise, but my boss approved it and she was a board director; In summary, I pointed out that they should be incentivising folks to provide longer notice periods of their retirement dates in return for days off to plan for retirement, preserved bonus entitlement, etc.

It may come to nothing, but without it, more and more times they'll be stung by long-serving employees giving the bare minimum notice and leaving quite a hole.

Today, my job was to watch seagulls, eat fish and chips and swim in the sea at St Ives. I am an exemplary employee and achieved everything on today’s job list.
