Nationally the govt website shows the total cases falling for the first time in a while. It did look like a peak was starting to crest so that's not a big surprise though feels out of step with my personal experiences recently.

London has had quite a big fall in cases recently. Us bumpkin folk in the provinces have been a couple of weeks out of kilter with London since the start of the pandemic. Most of the rest of us are still on the way up.

I’ve had a nasty cough and cold the last few days. Negative both on LFT and PCR. WW has now come down with something and his LFT is also negative.

I don’t know what we’ve got.

It is plausible that cases are beginning to fall. 5-10% prevalence just can't last that long, but we'll have another wave after this one, sooner or later.

Hospitalisations and deaths will probably start falling in a couple of weeks as well, this wave overall looks a bit worse than the Dec/Jan one which makes sense as there's virtually no vaccinations this time (ones being done now for older folks will mostly kick in slightly too late, but still good to have going forward)

Sometimes a cold is just a cold. There are plenty of them about too, it’s not like they suddenly went extinct!

I had a bad cold, or so I thought, for three days and due to my interactions with members of the public I flow tested twice in those three days. Negative.

On the 4th day, by the time I was convinced it was a cold, I tested positive and continued to do so for 6 days.

Hay fever season approaching too, if not here already. So, will be many harmless sniffles.

I guess though, once routing testing stops and free kits disappear, some people will never know whether it is a Summer cold, Hayfever or milder Covid.

And asymptomatic positives will just go about their normal lives in blissful ignorance.

But I guess that has to be so.

Very rough and ready, and for England only, but this goes to what IceMaiden was saying earlier in terms of the ONS data vs testing data.

Been pretty well matched until Jan 2022, but quite a divergence since then as testing volumes have dropped and the restrictions lifted. Orange line is ONS case %age prevalence, blue line is total cases reported daily on the main govt website.

Both parents now on two lines on the LFDs and with symptoms. Feeling rough but not too bad is the current assessment. Pretty inevitable really, fingers crossed eh!

Totally larkim hope they don’t get too poorly.

Definitely hearing more people are +ve frightening that a friend was out last week while their child was home with Covid - I know it’s what we’re supposed to do now but made me nervous & glad we bumped into each other outside.

Should my parents be getting a PCR, by the way? They are 100% positives and I presume they've logged them with the NHS as LFD results, but since the confirmatory PCRs were suspended in Jan have they been reintroduced?
