They survived the Lakeland 50. 7 miles finished them off.

Sounds like you had a guide that knew their stuff Dave. Good to have those backup routes for local knowledge

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I was dragged up Sgurr Nan Gillean via Pinnacle Ridge by a friend with a lot more climbing experience. Nerve wracking but epic. We were at the Talisker distillery at 4pm and spotted the clouds clearing. Raced back to Sligachan in the car, gear on, back into the Hotel for last orders. The wonders of Scotland in June. Could barely wield a dental drill on my return from the trip, the fingertips were so scraped up by the gabbro. |

Well done Dave A! I cried doing Lakeland 50, one of the toughest races I've done. I climbed Sgùrr nan Gillean and Am Basteir last Saturday and didn't cry. Must be getting tougher in my old age 😉. Action shot looking towards Sgùrr nan Gillean: Our guide is in yellow, he was excellent. With shanksi before climbing Am Basteir: The view: Saturday was the best day I've had in Skye in four trips there. I was a bit naive and didn't realise there would be abseiling to get down off Sgùrr nan Gillean, I find I get more nervous if I read too much about the scary hills. While we were there a chopper went over and we later found out they found the body of a walker missing from Glen Brittle. A sad reminder of how dangerous it can be. Can't wait to go again. |

We can’t wait to go again, guided or otherwise. It looks like the forecast for tomorrow is excellent, shame it’s a day too late. But, the weather actually made the day out as good as it was.

Thank you 😊. It is so weather dependant. We had the guides booked for the Sunday as well but the weather forecast was awful and out of our group of 6, 3 of us decided not to climb and 3 of us did the climb. I felt that I wouldn't enjoy it in wind and rain and it would make me anxious. The guys who did it said it was a very different experience. |
