Went for my lunchtime swim. Went in middle lane as there were lots of very slow swimmers in the slow lane. I don't think I held up the group too much. 25m front crawl is now feeling quite do-able and more natural - got to build on getting to 50m now (after the month lock-down - it may take a couple of weeks to get back into again). will go over to the swimming thread and ask the best way of doubling the length - do I just try it and build from what I manage - or is there a better way? Don't want to lose my confidence.

Linds - 'wild swimming' in lakes is allowed during lockdown 2.0, so might you be able to carry on with that? I am tempted to book for a dip next week.

I've done a good few hours in the garden. More daffs planted, as well as wallflowers and violas. Very soothing :-)

It's allowed, but most of the venues are closed...

We're really lucky, lake 32 stays open every winter anyway, so they're just closing the changing rooms and making the cafe takeaway only, and carrying on as they were.

All our lakes are closed, LD. One was staying open, but is now not. Might try some really wild swimming in a river, but it will be a bit of an experiment.

And I'm lucky to have relatively easy access to four different swimming lakes.

No goats here, but plenty of water. Maybe need to open up NF 'open water swimming'. Although mostly only 1ft deep ...

We decided on a walk in the NF today, having run the last 3 days.
Ostensibly to try and capture some of the massed deer herds on camera …

But, on the green at the start … pigs

A couple of miles in, buried in the trees, a herd of deer

The second stag was very noisy – advertising his presence to all, and letting us know who was in charge !
We couldn’t get too close – the paths here have been closed to minimise disruption to the herd during their rutting season. So we limited ourselves to long distance, through trees.

The main herd that are ‘always’ in Alderhill Bottom, or thereabouts, were nowhere to be seen. So 3 miles walked (each way) and none there !
We also opted out of a ‘last pint’ afterwards – the sun was already well down, and I suspect we’d have been very chilly sat outside.

On the plus side, I did find a pic on the way home for the Treasure Hunt, and the diversion let us spot more deer. This time a fairly battered stag. I assume the challenger (if it was another deer rather than dogs or barbed wire) came off worse, since he still had his herd of does.

Dipps - just had a 'you have been refunded' email from TriAdv re: Hurtleberry so it does appear to be off.
