That's a long way Sweetie, nice for you all though. :)

PT cancelled due to dampness so I'd better get out for a run now.

Still in Sonoma, dry & sunny, as ever.
The airBnB I booked here is another very well appointed garden shed. Will have to more aware booking these .. airbnb.co.uk

But it’s fine for collapsing in after the big $$$$ meal, and good location for today’s exercises and extravagances.

So, out for a day in Sonoma – first problem. No population figure in the guide book. It just lists wineries to visit. Maybe that’s a clue. Anyway, thanks to the web, pop 11,248. I may have to send that guide book back. Now I have a valid reason.
Anyway – off and out. I won’t be able to drive after the first hour. So it’s either the trolley bus/car thing (not on cables or rails) or the rickshaw, or walking. Probably a bit of all 3.
But, as you can see, you don’t need to travel far to taste wine.

Wine tasting here is a serious business. Yes, it’s touristy, and yes, the aim is to sell you wine, especially after you’ve had a few. But it’s good fun. There’s lots of chat, lots of tasting notes and odd words that supposedly decide wine flavours, and a score card for each ‘flight’ of wines. Typically they come 6 to a group. But we soon find that ordering two different ones and sharing 12 is the way to go.
And it’s wine drinking, not tasting. I don’t think there’s the option to swill and spit.

A few pics from when I as last here (Dec, 2011) – I’m the one in the middle on a weekend break from work … well, a week in Cupertino, weekend in San Fran and then via Sonoma to Roseville.

You can see the score cards for the different tasting groups in front of us.

Then wandering around. Besides the wine tasting, there’s a host of art and craft and ‘antique’ type shops. Also, I suspect, keen to take your money while you are a little intoxicated.
I found these grumpy western bluebirds annoyed at their bathing being disturbed, and the bath itself, after those tastings, very creepy, in a Doctor Who Weeping Angels type of way.
We avoided spending on anything that wasn’t consumed there and then.

And that transport – well, apparently the rickshaws are ‘pedicabs’. Another vocabulary lesson. And back to the web for pics.

And at the end of a day wine tasting, looking round at things, the guide book is right. I couldn’t care less about the population, it’s only about the wine.
Heading north tomorrow.

Millsey
Morning All,

Feel absolutely pants today. Been sick this morning after my 5km walk so not sure what’s going on.

Going to take it very easy today before deciding what to do later

Oh dear Millsey take care and motivation is good but don’t let the targets drive you to do more when you know you shouldn’t (goes off to take own advice) x

:-( & (()) Sorry, Millsey, with luck that’s the end of it GWS, very soon. Hope the new specs have settled in - then there’s the rain on glasses thing to get used to, doh.
I’m going to roll my legs along a short scenic drizzly ride, despite the scenery being somewhere in the fog & rain dribbling down my specs :-)
