Finally made malt loaf on Thursday, having found malt extract in H&B on the same day my mail order jar arrived! Tried it today and it’s lovely, not quite as squidgy as Soreen but a very similar taste. I used dates and currants instead of raisins and prunes, as that’s what was in the cupboard, and soaked overnight.

Mine sank a little when I opened the oven door to check if it was cooked - it needed a bit longer. It's more of a Soreen shape, than a Prue masterpiece.

All the malt loaves look great. shanksi decided to make brandy snaps since I'd never tested them. They were nice, although his presentation needs a bit of work 😉
