Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Take a look at James Hoffman's YouTube channel for some good reviews of kit across different price ranges.

The one thing I trust now that I didn't believe a couple of years ago is that the grinder is the key purchase, if for no other reason than it allows you to accurately tweak the grind depending on the bean and or the type of coffee you're making.

As with all things it depends how much money you're wanting to spend too.

Thanks Larkim, that’s helpful about the grind.

I'd love to do a barista course, but I suspect a good chunk of it would be wasted on me as I don't put milk anywhere near coffee, and I'm the only one in the house that likes "proper" coffee. My wife does drink ground coffee in her cafetiere, and the odd aeropress for a single cup, but the tiny amount of coffee that she puts in makes it barely flavoured water!!

My favourite Coffee paraphernalia is actually my two different SportsDirect.com mugs. (even though I don't support the company, brand loyalty or corporatism.)

I found this at a charity shop a while ago but get it since didn't understand it. I hope I can find something like it again.

That's a little moka pot. I hope the funnel-shaped basket with the sieve in the bottom is still with it.

Just realised that I hadn't had a coffee all day. They just have Dow Egberts ground in a catering pack and a French press, but it really hit the spot and tasted great. Free as well.

I have a Krups grinder (given to us by a kindly relative), a Gaggia Carreza Deluxe (also given to us by same said kindly relative, who "couldn't be bothered with the faff"), a Dolce Gusto pod machine (gathering dust in the utility room), a Bosch Tassimo that OH and DSD like to use, an Aeropress (my daily go-to), and a cafetiere (sometimes gets used when a mate is round). Oh and a coffee scale (that I use when brewing on the Gaggia).

I order the same 2 beans (Guatemalan Elephant and Bourbon Espresso) from Whittards on a "subscribe and save". We also have instant and decaf for guests/relatives. I must admit that the Gaggia only really gets used if I want a decent latte/cappucino. Otherwise I will mostly drink Americano and the very occasional espresso.

A couple of years ago my OH bought me a coffee bean advent calendar which was a bit of an eye-opener as I quite liked several light/honeyed roasts, but trying to find similar decent beans has proved more hassle than it's worth. Hence I stick to my 2 familiar medium/dark roasts. And that's about as technical as it gets here :)

Because of the ascites and anaemia I have not had any coffee in months.

Hooray!

Against the odds, I seem to be getting better!

I don't think this is a date related product, but you never know. Saw it yesterday though, which suggests otherwise.

weberworkshops.com

Now *that* would be OTT to spend on a grinder!!

Non-tea drinker here and nowhere to talk about the caffeine bean, so I thought I'd start a thread. ...
