Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, that was underwhelming. They'll have to bowl and field exceptionally well

The "new" cricket audience will just have to get used to enduring the regular disappointment that goes with following the England cricket teams that those of us who've been doing so for longer have got used to! ;-)

That missed run out really sums it up.

Well. A series lost to a side who have never beaten you...and to lose that one with three overs to spare is really poor.

If you didn't know, you would have thought England were #8 in the World for T20. Very, very, poor.

Hmz. There’s a few ways to look at it - you had five players in the side tonight who are in their very early 20s and right at the beginning of their international career: Capsey’s 19, Gaur 17, Kemp 18 and Gibson and Dean 22.

There’s been a bit very large pool of players over the last few years - was it only two years ago they upped the number of central contracts? I remember the surprise at when Is was given a central contract and at the time there were very few players coming through of a standard to challenge to get into the England side.

They have to start developing the next batch from somewhere - there’s not many of the World Cup winning 2017 left playing now at all - and I think I’d mentioned before, the women retire far younger than the men because their international careers start at a far earlier age. Sarah Glenn’s only 23 and Bouchier 24. I can’t think of many other sports that have such a young international team but happy to be corrected. When you contrast it to the ages of the men’s team….

More women need to be in the pool of players to challenge and drive forward the game - and they have to start somewhere. Bit like the men’s teams and the argument of over playing players, there needs to be more choice and I suppose this is a start at getting younger players through and giving them the experience.

(Meant to edit the first paragraph as I went to find their ages and forgot to change it! Only two of the 5 are in their early 20s!)
