Oh dear Alice ( and as well as that's the sort of thing Ralph would do - especially if he is used to visitors giving him a biscuit.
I have a stupid dog owner to report. This one has a fat, mostly friendly Rottie (Toby) (who did bite me by mistake when he stole a glove from my hand once) an elderly, fat and grumpy GSD cross (female) and an annoying ankle nipping heinz-mutt ( called Bitza). The fact he walks them all off lead, usually without even carrying one, only has marginal recall and Toby wants to play with Ralph so always comes charging over, is bad enough.
BUT the idiot has taken to walking his c*t with them. He usually picks it up and puts it on his shoulder when he sees another dog.
But not today.
And Ralph hates cats and I was terrified Toby was going to get protective of said feline. Thankfully it was only the elderly girl that did and she's very slow and Ralph decided outrunning her was more fun than chasing the c*t.

What an idiot, RH. Flossie is also anti-cat and has pulled me right into a hedge before now when she saw a cat before I did, when she was on-lead. I dread to think what would have happened if Flossie had an encounter like that.

I smiled too (sorry!) Some others may remeber when the Bishop came on a special visit and Jet jumped up at him with paws covered in black mud...

Oh dear sounds all too familiar, mine can reach visitor's shoulders with his nearly always muddy feet. I've mostly stopped him jumping at me but any other human is fair game. "He's just excited" .......... sigh I've put some signs up; beware loose dog

I love that picture Alice What a little terror he was with your visitor though, but I have to admit my first thought was 'Oh thank God that wasn't my dog' I'm sure he only wanted her scarf though, not to nip her.
And that owner sounds incredibly stupid RH too..

Thanks for your kind comments and for admitting that some of you have dogs that might have been tempted to act in the same way... You make me feel better but I still feel really bad that for a short time I was that "irresponsible owner with an out of control dog".
