Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've just about finished my poly tunnel build. It was like the biggest meccano set in the world.

Did your assistant help you by picking up and holding the next piece in its beak until you were ready to use it? ;-)

No, it was mostly a supervisory role. Rolling his sleeves up and getting his beak dirty is a bit beneath him.

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’m destined not to have a good tomato harvest this year. Firstly blight does for about a third of my plants, now I think a mouse is stealing green toms from the greenhouse.

Yesterday I saw a couple of nibbled ones in the corner where they couldn’t really have fallen off and rolled to - I put those in the compost. Today there is another four in the same spot. Grrr…

Blight has hit our outdoor toms at the allotment too :( so far the ones at home are doing ok, just need them to hurry up and ripen before they succumb...

No blight here but my plants simply haven't grown and ate producing very little tomatoes. Normally at this time I would start preserving them for cooking the rest of the year AND eat them twice a day... I have barely had a tomato yet :(

I think I caught the blighted tom plants quick enough as the remainder look ok. Mine are outside, but I have had quite a few ripe ones - just about a month behind where they’d usually be here so hoping for a warm September.
First sweetcorn cobs picked yesterday - straight from plant to pan it’s so sweet :)
No brassicas, the ones the slugs left got well and truly caterpillared whilst I was away :(
The chillis don’t seem to want to ripen, but there are lots of them, we can always eat them green.

I've had 6 ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse this year. No blight, though.
