Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Haven’t had much of a condensation problem. We have automatic roof vents which don’t take too much sun to open so when we do have warm sunny days in winter maybe there is a more gradual temperature drop?

FFS, after all the other problems I’ve had with my tomatoes this year, woodpigeons have started having a go at the tomatoes in pots I have by the house.

I’m going to have to pick all the tomatoes with a hint of colour of them and ripen them indoors, I don’t think I have anything I could use as a barrier.

Mine are terrible this year - I tried grafted plants for the first time, thinking they'd be stronger and earlier, but no. The snails which are always a problem in my garden have taken to the skies...they're all over the wisteria on the pergola, as well as on the ground. I've lost a few toms to them and dwarf broad & runner beans which I tried in pots didn't stand a chance.

I had better results last year from Lidl tomato seeds.

It is a terrible year for pests.
Squirrels have been the most destructive! I had 7 kuri squashes coming on... 3 left afyer the squirrels chewed them down, spoilt them for storage and consumption by taking 1 bite then leaving them 🤬🤬🤬

A problem that we needed to overcome with the four raised beds we’ve taken in the Red Lion garden was lack of a water supply for watering. There’s no outside tap and it’s not really in order to be visiting the pub kitchen to fill watering cans.
The landlord allowed us to get a water butt to capture the rain water from a function room roof. One downpour filled a 210 litre butt, so I got another one yesterday, just in time for this morning’s torrential downpour. Win, win 🙌
