Cool ta. She is a bit bigger than the male which I think it's what put me off that in the first place, plus I though they had white breasts.

Two surprises today. First, loads of bird song in the gorse, and I finally found one of the sources. I was expecting something a bit special, not really aware of how tuneful, and loud, a chaffinch can be. As we walked along the gorse, there were quite a few of them. Is it the weather?
(even if imitating a stone chat on top of the gorse)
And at the end of the walk, duskish, 5pm, a cuckoo. Not seen, but heard. SE of Ocknell Pond, if interested.

Saw a Blackcap (male) in the garden today. Not surprised they’re here, but surprised I saw what it was from the dining room without binoculars!
1 stork on the nest at the end of the street. Hoping for storkettes later this spring😍

Pegging washing out and heard a willow warbler. Took me a couple of choruses to cotton on (no pun intended)
