I had the wren for company in the garden this afternoon in stead of robin.

Yep. We have a breeding centre near us so I see them all the time - they sometimes circle my garden too

Interesting view of a sparrowhawk yesterday. Wife and I were running along a kind of holloway, slightly sunken path with hedged banks either side, and ahead of us a male sparrowhawk (judging from size) was flying dead straight, no more than a foot or two above the ground. Had there been any birds hopping about, they wouldn't have stood a chance, that was pure stealth mode, no chance of seeing the sparrowhawk in silhouette at all. Deadly!

Had some great spots on the last couple of days. Went for a walk around the Orme yesterday and had some great views of the fulmars, choughs and a couple of stonechats. Bit forgetting a few basking seals

Today I was on my lunch and saw a mixed flick of fieldare and redwings. Very pleased as didn't see any definite sightings of either last year

I went to Arne yesterday but didn't see anything to get excited about.

Had a count of the curlew in the field this morning having their morning feed. 37 today which is the largest number I've seen in the field, far more on the estuary but not many seem to venture this far inland

Saw two ravens at Gullfoss yesterday, and these little finches near a glacier. They looked a little like goldfinches without the red patches. Any ideas on ID?
Sorry for the quality of the photo, zoomed in on iPhone
