Hawfinches at Darley Dale Church this morning. Over 20 were reported very visible yesterday but my visit coincided with a wedding and they'd become a bit more scarce. Still excellent views of one in particular feeding at the top of a spruce in perfect light for over ten minutes. Also a quick trip across to the Res at home produced a flock of 9 Meadow Pipit right in front of one of the hides and a Grey Wagtail.

Brown Pelican on Aruba - there were 2 of them that came to this spot to be fed daily by a local. He let my wife throw some fish for it to catch, but the photo was blurry sadly.

We went out for a pelican curry on Boxing Day. The food was great, but the bill was blooming massive

Lucky being so close to a wild pelican, can even see the eye colour. Then I googled, to understand the bill & breathing, & read in passing that a pelican in a London Park grabbed & swallowed a pigeon whole, before horrified onlookers.

I've seen the video. What diseases could the poor pelican catch from eating a London pigeon?
