So as expected I did run badly due to my cold but still enough for Matlock to win team gold, because my team mates were excellent. Lots of medals all around for the club which is great.

DNS for me, a grumbly hamstring that came to light on Wednesday hadn't resolved itself so took a sensible decision during warm up that I'd be doing more harm than good by running.

Son finished 4th in the seniors though, and despite it being very boggy and slippy he used my (track LD) spikes as his XC specific ones were showing a few too many signs of age.

Curly45 Wollaton was quite challenging in 2020.

However since then they are concerned about the damage to the park, and have recently changed the parkrun course to avoid damage to the lake dam. They are likely to keep future courses to the East side of the Hall where the ground is firmer but more undulating.

Great news Larks

Local mixed league today, just my kind of course. Steep, technical and long hills. No idea how I did as results usually take days and I don't wear a watch, but felt good.

We've got one more in February then nationals 😳😱 really need to get some consistent training in.

That was an incredible race Curly, the ground was even cut up into the finish, brutal!!

That type of race would be an absolute slog for me! I did the Midlands XC Champs yesterday and one half of the course I was flying relative to those around me while on the other half with sucking mud and long drags, I was losing out. One guy passed me three times as he was really good in that section, luckily I was better in my section so he was gaining less overall when he went past me each time so I was confident that he wouldn't beat me.

I got to the race late yesterday so warm up was a bit rushed. First lap, I initially started well, then hit the tough half and thought I was having a bad race. I rolled my ankle in that lap, but luckily no ill effects in the moment (after min of concern). Had to make a big effort on the half I was good at as there was a big gap to the next group but it worked and overall from that point I was moving through.

Club got gold yesterday (top six count). I was eighth and with the 50 points I'd have added if 6 and 7 weren't there (technically 48) we'd still have won so a dominant performance.

I will be interested to see where I'd have finished in the masters race although I forgot about it so didn't enter (don't think there's an extra cost either).

Forgot to mention we won Masters sliver at the Warwickshire XC Champs in December with me leading the team home which was nice. Seniors got bronze and U20s got gold so was a solid day out!
