ok, cool hann, thanks. we've had bits of tarmac and things on some of ours which would be horrid in spikes. but they usually say "suitable for spikes" if it's a grass track/park type thing. but the claws are comfy and seem to stick to everything. Just put a post in fell runners re brilliant 10 mile, 3000 ft today. will blog it later (with pics, if I can work out how to add them to a blog!) cheers.

Wear one of each ? Seriously I've only done 6 XC events but when me and my Terrocs struggled, the people in spikes struggled just as bad plus as mentioned before they didn't have the versatility of being able to take advantage of the odd bit of metalled surface. The X-Talons I just bought were more expensive than I could have bought spikes for so I have put my money where my mouth is

I was out on them this morning, for an 11 mile fell run, in the pooring rain, with the groud saturated everywhere, to put them to the test. They passed on all fronts! I also raced the Balck Mountains fell race in them last week, 17 miles, 5400ft, took me 4 hours. Even though they are not supposed to be for long distance fell running, they were brilliant! They feel like slippers and normally I'd have tired feet after a race like that, well not last week!

Thursday? Which league are you running in, Ross?
Just under 3 weeks til my first xc of the season:) I've been thinking about investing in some x talons as well, as most of the courses I do have concrete paths to cross at various points and those bits are hard going in spikes:( Wore Walshes for most of the races last year, but wondering if the grip on the x talons or mudclaws might be better...
