SKR, what you've said is the prevailing view I think. Just as a matter of interest, what is it for you that you didn't like abut the Alphas? I think also the Endorphin Speeds get very good reviews as an all-rounder type of shoe. I.E., if someone only wants to buy one shoe to use for faster workouts and also racing, that one comes very highly rated from what I've seen over the last few months.

Yeah, at the next level down the ZoomFly doesn't really do it for me, if I was buying similar again then based on reviews I've seen it would probably be the Endorphin Speed or NB Fuelcell TC

BG i'd say the Next% are lighter and make for a smoother ride. The Alphaflys are just too heavy and bouncy. I think with some practice i can make them work for a Marathon but definitely not for a HM and faster (for me at least).
I did a 5 mile threshold time trial in each of them and It wasn't a contest, the Next& was smooth and easy. I still prefer the Alphafly upper though its almost non-existent

SKR, so you'd favour the Next% (but not the AlphaFly?) over the Endorphin Pro for HM distance?

J2R, i'd definitely go with the Next%. The endorphins are a great shoe, but you don't get the same instance responsiveness

K5, I have the Zoom Fly 3s, and I too would go for the Endorphin Speed. The ZFs are okay and I actually like the uppers and fit, but they feel quite wobbly to me going around corners.

I'm a fan of the zoom flys, especially for spped work and things like parkrun (ah, those were the days...). I remember the first marathon I did in Nike Pegasus, which were fine, but dead compared to fresh zoom flys. On a side note, I think jda mentioned the adidas sub 2s a few pages back - I got a pair cheap but wouldn't run further than a 5k in them - extremely light, but with the old minimalist racing flat philosophy taken to an extreme, brutal over a longer distance.

Thanks, SKR, noted. To some degree it'll depend on what I can actually get hold of, so I may not get end up with my absolute first choice. I must say the prospect of better longevity with the Endorphin Pros is a plus - it would annoy me to pay far more than I've ever paid for a pair of running shoes which only lasted a few runs.

I wear ZFFs and Pegasus 35 for my training runs at the moment. Prefer the ZFFs a million time over, but the sole of the Pegasus is better able to withstand the rough and sometimes debris-strewn roads around here. I don't expect to get more than 300 miles out of the ZFFs.
