Jda - That was before Nike though if I recall or was already developed by the time Nike changed the game.

I agree with Larkim. In any case, shoes that are objectively faster is a new thing so the marker hasn't adjusted. Also pro athletes on the second rung and below are in a catch 22 as in theory they can probably get more for running for a 'slower' company and given sponsorship is a big part of how you make money from running?

I'm pretty sure the adidas shoe appeared in public quite a while after the VF (I think they were spring 2018 and spring 2017 respectively) but I take your point about it probably being in development for some time prior to that. But still....where is the competitive Adidas shoe? It's now closing in on 4 years down the line.

(Reason for my particular interest in adidas is that as well as being one of the biggest manufacturers, it's what I used to wear - in fact I still have a pair in near-pristine condition, one marathon only...)

That lack of a stride forward for Adidas really puzzles me. I know Nike got the 3 bears porridge "just right" but if Adidas can't replicate their magic in their labs I think they need to get some new scientists in!

I thought the adizero adios pro ( as opposed to the adizero pro ) was pretty highly thought of, no ? The one with the 5 carbon rods under the forefoot rather than a single plate. adidas.co.uk

Peres Jepchirchir setting the WR at the half marathon in them back in Sept points to it being pretty nifty - of course we'll never know if she might have ran even faster in a pebax based vaporfly/alphafly/endorphin-pro

The Adidas had done well in Women's races. It's a shame that Keitany is likely (hopefully she isn't) past her best now as she in top form would be a real test of its marathon credentials.

Adidas puzzles me too as they know about Pebax via Reebok. It is one of the reasons I thought (and still do to an extent) patents caused some issues somewhere and/ or they all thought the genie was going to get bottled.

Hadn't seen that!

Of course I've not been in the market for shoes for a while now...

Yes, jda, the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro are Adidas' answer to the Nikes. I suspect Adidas are possibly a big enough name to eat into the Nike dominance at the top if the shoe delivers the results. They were, after all, the make which had many of the podium places before the Nike 4% hit.

Didn’t Sara Hall wear ASICS at London this year? The Saucony and Adidas offerings are getting very good reviews, as are the New Balance RC Elite. But I think the consensus from the “Shoe Tubers” is that the Nikes are still the best.
