Agreed. That minute was compared to using heavier road shoes and arguably could have been achieved at lead in part by going to any lighter shoe.

You'd take it for sure JR

I bought them as I wear Nike anyway and have friends who are running a lot faster in these shoes.

I'd happily blame the shoes if I started seeing 16.xx 5km times.

I'm going to test this weekend, right now trying to decide on 4% (nearly new) 4% (old and worn) or Active 88(new light and minimal) the 88s have performed very well in training.

The issue is though Gob - someone who cant afford to splash out on £240 shoes may miss out to someone who can. AS I said _ I am well within my GFA time so hopefully shouldnt impact. However, it concerns me a bit re age group prizes. I confess to being competitive so do think I might feel a bit hard done by if someone who has never beaten me before rocks up in VFs and beats me.

VF is just about the cheapest way of gaining speed in a tri! I wore mine for a duathlon and won a woolly hat, I hope no-one else felt too hard done by but I did probably have the cheapest bike by a country mile.

240 quid on shoes is undoubtedly a lot - more than double what I usually pay.

But - for GFA athletes, adding up all the kit, entry fees, travel and overnight stays, it doesn't strike me as a huge marginal difference overall per race. You're not going to train in them year round. (I can only realistically wear mine for a few good weather months a year.)

Maybe because I live in Iceland where everything is expensive.

I'll be in new vaporflys with my asics sweater picked up for a fiver in the Red Cross shop. Best running top I ever got!

I'll also be middle of the pack. Not threatening anyone's GFA place and just trying to get under 4 hours!
