OH even paid for the divorce so I wouldn’t do it on the grounds of adultery.

I divorced my XH for unreasonable behaviour and he threatened to "counter-sue" me for adultery because I'd moved on before the ink was dry on the Decree Nisi

I think there are no rights whatsoever on pensions for cohabiting couples. Civil partnerships yes, because it is legally binding. Living together is not recognised. Living together has pluses and minuses.

Me and my OH have totally separate accounts and said we don’t need to claim from each other if ever anything happened. This is OH’s house so I would move back into my own as I can afford the upkeep of a one bedroom but wouldn’t be able to afford to keep on a 3 bedroom property which I would say rightly belongs to his boys.

I just checked. No rights on pensions in Scotland. Although other financial claims are possible depending on length of relationship, nature of relationship and provided yiu claim within a year.

LG, exactly! And why I said I would never sell my house, just rent it out in case I needed it again. The hardest things was loosing my house! I had invested the proceeds of my flat and a mortgage into buying our second home. Then loosing both that and the home we lived in was tough. Realistically, I would not gave been able to keep up the farm on my own though. In the end, happiness counted for more than posessions! |

I have never had a relationship where I co-habited in his home since. "He", several "he"s have tried wrestling themselves in on my house but it ain't happening! My most recent ex actually bought his own house in the village as he too didn't want to co-habit. That went well for a long time... |

I have a family member who seemed to lose out quite badly on divorce. He had to give up half of everything she retained her own assets. I have never quite got my head around how she managed that. I have since heard she has had a second divorce and also managed to come out well from that also. I guess she must have a good lawyer. |
