I really miss my old work buddy who I could squeak Doctor Who with. Love Ncuti... knew I would from seeing him in Sex Education, but he's really making this role his own and probably winding up a lot of people with certain fixed opinions. I think Millie is okay - I like her energy and I hope she gets the chance to do/be a bit more. I've watched the first two and plots are nonsense and there's a lot of explaining going on. How many times did Ncuti say 'Space Babies?' I find myself listening for the 'story arc' bits, which is a bit of a waste of the rest of the story. There's also a lot of jump cutting between different timelines/views of the story. I think this may all unravel at the end. I am optimistic about the single Steven Moffatt episode coming up. He was brilliant at writing the one stand out episode in the series that RTD strung together. But I have been wrong about his writing before. |

It felt like it's very much aimed at the TikTok generation. The second episode especially seemed to be a collection of 30 second TikTok clips strung together by some filler. It's fair enough if they want to reboot and go for a younger generation for what was originally a kids show. I liked the character of the Doctor, but I'm not sure how it fits in with the show. Having a Doctor who is fun-loving and always cheery is good (and an improvement on it being depressing for depressing sake), but it's hard to see how someone who is always positive and happy can deal with the terror which should be in the show. It feels like it's a bit 'we don't want to think about the threat, so we'll ignore that', which makes the stories quite dull and pointless. Tennant and Whittaker were good at enjoying fun and experiencing peril, but the balance doesn't feel right in these episodes. Hopefully as the series goes on it will be less TikToky (doing that for early episodes to attract people makes sense). And hopefully the 'less fun' stories will address that balance. But if the whole series is like the first two episodes I think they've lost me as a viewer. If the intention is to appeal to a younger generation and it wants to stay fresh then it doesn't really have an obligation to appeal to me also. |

I thought it was canon that the Doctor doesn't carry cash....

Moffat always was the best scriptwriter. Boom.

Episode 2 felt like I was watching a more underwhelming version of the film "Yesterday"! en.m.wikipedia.org |
