I liked it. I see more similarity between Ruby and Rose than I do between Gatwa and Ecclestone but I thought the first (proper) outings for both were really promising. I liked the Doctor a lot and I’m surprised how good Millie Gibson was as Ruby. Very hopeful for the pairing.
Also thought it was pretty good as far as Christmas theming goes. Ruby’s family was touchingly done.
On the downsides, the gloves were nonsense and no doubt be another really powerful thing we will never see again. I liked Ruby and the Doctor singing but the goblins routine felt just cheesy - that might just be me though.
And new series isn’t until May?! This carries on a tradition now of the Doctor Who team being the least productive in world television!
At least it might be worth the wait though 🤞

I saw 3Ms come sailing in
I enjoyed it. Definitely a Christmas special, and a bit more light-hearted than some. Although a nice dark humour in those goblins.

Just caught up. yes a bit silly, but allowable for an Xmas Day special. Overall I enjoyed it and am looking forward the series.
Surprised no one's mentioned Anita Dobson's character. Just a bit of fun, or a reference to a future storyline??

With the story having a strong theme of 'family' then I'd like to think she may have been Susan, rather than a future villain. Although obviously that would be at odds with her not reacting positively when she first saw a police box / recognisable TARDIS outside her home ...
Biggest question for me is why the Dr. didn't challenge/follow the mother(?) who left baby Ruby at the church?

exactly my first thoughts, Weath: could have been Susan but it didn't quite add up. Re the mother, I'm guessing it'll be a future story line - must be a reason why we didn't see their face. Could possibly be, though, that if he intervened and she goes back to collect the baby, it would change the timeline. But my money's on the first option.

I agree there could be a follow up but I’m with Gordon on now wanting to change the timeline; this whole scene is about undoing what the goblins had done (or undone), makes sense to not want to interfere in another way.
