I'm sure there will be a million and one of these virtual challenges popping up this summer, but here's one that watchers/lurkers on this thread may be interested in.

It's a run/walk along the South West Coastal Path, which is a similar distance to the GVRAT, coming in at 636 miles, but with a seven-month time allowance. Entries are open now and it starts on 1 June.

I might even overlap it with this Tennessee run!

roberton - these towns make me think of some of the places Jack Reacher visits.

DocM - good going, I'm hoping to see that prediction coming back from September into August before the end of this week!

I knew there was a fictional leader in the shape of the Gingerbread Man; apparently there's a fictional sweeper called Buzzard. Just stay ahead of the buzzard :)

I've decided to enter the SWCP event. (Spoke to the organiser and it's limited to 250 entrants.)

We have walked sequentially from Plymouth to Poole on day trips over the last three years and were due to start from Minehead this year with a view to getting back round to Plymouth in five years or so. Taking part in the virtual event will be an excellent opportunity to look at the route in detail for when we can get out and continue on the physical route. :)

That sounds great. Where are you based? I've walked and run bits of the path, but it's a long enough haul from Cambridge that I can't see trying to do the whole thing.

Near Teignmouth. We chose Plymouth as our start point when we moved here, a bit unconventional, but it has worked well for us because every start/finish point has been within an hour’s travel from home (although slightly longer for the later East Dorset sections). North Somerset/Devon will be nearer to two hours each way, so we’ll be aiming for some two or three day outings when we can.
