I expect to tie the taller ones to a fence eventually, but the little ones should be bushy enough to hold their own in the wind.

Looks like the garden enjoyed the sun while we were away.

Sunflowers now higher than the 6ft fence. The foreground is Mini Nico's wild flower seed bombs in action.

They look a good size, BL.
These are my non-competition plants, that have just flowered. I'm still waiting for my prize giants to develop heads.

My sunflowers don't look very well after a week home alone. Apart from the tub of runt seedlings I left in a dark corner of the garden. They're fine. I've applied water and crossed my fingers.

The verbenas and salvias are slightly frazzled too, but the cosmos are coming on a treat.

OK - this years Competition.

The Roolz

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)
7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
