The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
This is a top record, rare too. Don't think it made it to Wigan (which closed its doors in 1982), but was "discovered" after that - maybe in the Stafford era. Another one that can make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck:
Classic Northern Soul. Released on Hickory in the U.S. and also on Decca in the UK. This was what was playing as I walked into Wigan Casino for the first time as a callow 15-year old lad.
This fits the "Crossover Soul" description. It's a difficult one to explain, basically it's the genre of soulmusic that evolved after the classic 1965-70 uptempo 4-beat stormers, but not quite yet in the "Modern Soul" era. I don't worry about categorising such things myself, I just love this one:
I thought I might indulge of my "other" passion for your entertainment
