We have two different sets of cutlery. I am quite anal in ensuring the sets are loaded in separate compartments. This gets tricky when you have only 8 sections to use. Sometimes I have to compromise and just put all the forks together. I'm for ease of unloading as it is rare that anything comes out unclean and if it does I just give it a quick wipe with the dishcloth.

Stuff that comes out of the dishwasher 'unclean' isn't actually dirty. For example, the stuff that is stuck to that fork is very clean, just dried on. It just needs chipping off and putting away. It doesn't need re-washing.

Both my dishwashers have cutlery trays and I have to say although I was sceptical at first I absolutely love them. Nobody else ever touches the dishwasher because they’re too fucking lazy to even bring stuff into the kitchen let alone open a door. So I just get on with it. Properly, obviously.

I agree with the not unclean thing, by the way. Sterile dirt
I do want to know why cleaning the filters is so minging though.

Oh yes. There’s some pretty weird and wonderful organisms living in the filters of our machine.

You're meant to clean the filters?
I thought they were like teapots - never to be cleaned.

I put a dishwasher cleaner through mine every once in a while. Does that count?
