If there are threads showing off photos of steps or castles or suchlike, I'm going out on a limb and tagging them with "bench" among other things, as benches seem to be the most popular topic for that kind of thread. Seems better than just having one tag for steps or castles and of course anyone interested in steps or castles would find the thread anyway by using the Search function. Does that make sense?

If there are more than 10 threads just tagged "photos", the algorithm will presumably pull up the 10 it is programmed to pull up, perhaps by recency or number of watchers or number of posts, I don't know. But there's no guarantee it will pull up those ones (as opposed to, say, Em's "Things Beginning With ..." thread, which is also full of photos). But if the thread you are reading is tagged "photos" and "bench" and there are, say, six other threads tagged the same way, then those six will be prioritised when the box is generated. I think! It's like "shoes". You could argue that "shoes" is enough, but where the discussion is about one brand, I am adding "brooks", "adidas" or "asics" too. (I'm also adding "hoka" where relevant, having been corrected by Ian for adding "hokas"! )
