He's been nominated because of the snowball effect from last December. Notwithstanding the fact that so young the mental fortitude to keep his performances up since has been mightily impressive too.

Whereas the tabloid story of Littler last year was pretty unmissable. Root would be a pretty worthy winner though too. Maybe it will just come down to the demographic of who watches the show on the night.

Only one of which Brook bettered. You're very unlikely going to get two people from sport under the current format of 6 on the shortlist - look at Littler vs World Champion Humphries for example.
