As I said on the cheating thread, RW have previously posted a piece on cheating at parkrun. I suspect it was long before Kate was there.

I’m sorry, but she’s not even that switched on. Presuming she is the person that made the GPX file for London Marathon (for an event she may not even have been at, according to that article), why would she plot it out in reverse? It doesn’t make sense, unless she thought she wasn’t on anyone’s radar, and so wouldn’t get found out. Or maybe she wasn’t thinking that way at all. I’d like to know what was going through her mind as it’s baffling, more so to me for the London Marathon case.

We got charged the wrong amount for one of two sofas we ordered - I noticed before we left the shop and went back to the salesman. He said as it was their mistake, they wouldn't charge the extra. I've also had to persuade (John Lewis again) to collect extra items they delivered in error. E.g. dining chairs that came in pairs. I'd ordered one pair as we couldn't afford 4 chairs at that point. 2 boxes of two chairs were delivered. So even though we needed/wanted the chairs, I rang to tell them. Customer services couldn't believe I'd told them. All of my colleagues said they'd keep them but it's wrong. |

I can imagine the HM may not have been premeditated but she cut the course at some point and knew she couldn't post her own GPS. Not sure what's going on with the marathon if she wasn't even in the results. |

Marathon could just be a cockup, asking a friend to grab a GPX with a start time of 10am and a pace of about 3:20, and they grabbed a reverse route one? You'd have to do something like that off a preexisting file to get any sort of trace that had both the wobble shown around canary wharf (as per the pictures in the investigation report) and also to get a pace which is anything other than straight lines. I've created a few gpx files in the past when treadmills haven't worked properly, it takes quite an effort just to get a simple even paced file created. You've got stronger morals than me MsG!! |

The question is why she created the file in the first place if she didn't do the race? Unless LM removed her from the results. Anyway I've seen comment elsewhere that it could be done from scratch but not sure the how matters much. |

It can be done from scratch but it would be quite hard to do to match up to the imprecise way it appears in that screenshot. Much more likely I'd say that someone has downloaded a previous run activity and manipulated the times using a service like gotoes.org or similar.

There's no legitimate reason for doing it though, is there?

Just to add that that I know it’s possible to create a file, add HR data, add cadence data to etc. But the question I still have is “why?”, when it appears she may not even have been at the race? Why did an experienced runner with nothing to prove feel the need to do that? That’s what I don’t understand.
