minardi Jun 2020 10:29am, 15 Jun 2020 5,647 posts	0 minardi For those of you unaware, the wonderfully lovely Jovial Gnome of this parish runs the Mirkwood Rest Home for Retired Sheep (look it up on FB). He runs it by himself with physical help from kind volunteers (mainly parkrunners) and monetary help from contributions which can be rather sporadic. The fabulous Mandy Foyster is his main fundraiser - she has run London Marathon dressed as a giant sheep for the cause, amongst many other feats of endurance. Along with most other charitable causes, the lockdown has caused a severe drop in income and Mandy has taken it upon herself to organise a virtual Half Marathon - The Sheepy Shuffle "You are invited to sign up for a virtual half marathon fundraising event to help raise funds for the Mirkwood Rest Home for Retired Sheep. Total Race Timing have kindly provided their race platform at cost and have been incredibly supportive with the setup of this event. All proceeds from the Sheepy Shuffle will go towards helping the 28 rescued sheep who live at the animal sanctuary in Lincolnshire. Cost is £12.50 per entry. There will be a truly ‘ewe-nique’ 7cm bespoke medal. Full details and an image of the medal can be found here on the flier attached and on the booking site: totalracetiming.co.uk You can sign up any time from now and run your half marathon sometime between 1st July and 31st August 2020. If you wish you can download the fun race number after you have entered and wear it for your run.
