I am doing Edinburgh Marathon, not about me tho, 2 of my Jogscotland girls are doing their first, so I am supporting them round. Looking at 6-630 (so unlikely anyone will be hanging around waiting for us.)
Respecting the distance of course, as Metronome has said, running a marathon even underpace is hard.
Looking forward to a girlie weekend away, train down saturday overnight at Edinburgh Park and train back sunday late after some food and drinks. (Trying to travel light as all worldy goods will be in drop bag!)
Say hi if you see us Trio of Orange Jogscotland Hazelheaders!!

Black Rock tomorrow and then Edinburgh half for me on Sunday. First time doing the half since 2014 and looking forward to it apart from the 8am start!

I never understood why the half starts at 8am, and the marathon at 10, surely it would make sense to have the marathon off early, and the half coming to a close when most of the marathoners were still out on the course?
I know there must be a logic to it, i just would imagine it would make more sense

So people can run both of course! Or at least, the half and a relay leg.
(I suspect the actual reason is that there would be pinch points on the course as the faster halfers ran into the slower marathoners - out at the far end around Gosford House? Also that the marathon is very much the main event, the half more of an adjunct.)

Stoosh (or was it Tizer?) did both a couple years ago, didn't he?
Think I might pop out to Black Rock to watch too. Should be a lovely evening for it. Wonder how high the tide will be this year?! G

If the marathon went off first then the front runners in the half would be into the back of the slower full marathon runners

There's a video on the Race website home page that shows what they expect conditions to be like. Seems like about 15-20 cm which is a lot more than I have seen in some year's when I've nearly kept my feet dry all the way around the rock

that happens in Amsterdam and it's horrible for the slower marathon runners
