Partial closures. One lane along the Hillfoots. So runners can be secure in the knowledge that they only risk wipeout by speeding bike instead of speeding car ;-).

The roundabout at the top of Menstrie Brae will have a steady stream of runners for about seventy minutes (and a small amount of runners outside that). Slow cyclists to running pace to cross? Hmm.

As I said before, I can't see a suitable resolution to this- one event has to change date, and it has to be Alloa as STC had the date first

Surely they must cross runners a 2nd time to be going the same direction from Alva to Menstrie ?

Nope - the cyclists turn left down a windy hill then pop out onto the main road at Alva....straight into runners going along hillfoots at about 9 miles (carnage). Then they follow the runners until runners turn left at about 10.5 miles up the hill.

Oh, I might not bother with my Stirling Sprint debut this year then Jules, don't want any of these jogger types embarrassing me by running faster than I cycle.

Merge at Alva which is impossible. I thought perhaps starting the Tri later could work, but they'd be bottles/cups all over the road and the Tri would have to start really late to let the runners clear the top of the hill and get it all cleared away, besides all the University times have been booked

I’m struggling to believe that they’re really going to stomp all over an event that’s already been planned and booked. Bloody rude.

Jules, I'm interested to know if STC have contacted the organisers of the Alloa half and asked them how this conflict was to be resolved.. if they did, what response did they get ?

Race Director definitely messaged Alloa Half organisers once they announced their new date (obv no contact with Tri Club before choosing our race date), but I don’t know if he’s had a response from them yet.
