A bit of a fun run and the chance to say that you've run on an airport runway if anyone fancies it. aberdeenrunwayrun.co.uk

The running equivalent of one of those posh "charity dinners".

Once upon a lifetime ago I spent longer than I care to remember running on and round runways. At least then they were paying me! No thank you.

Part of the Montrose parkrun is a (disused) runway, so run there for free

Alness parkrun is an old seaplane base. So you'd get wet actually investigating the 'runway'. I think some of the Speyside Way Ultra is on overgrown runway of the WWII RAF Dallachy.

I did the runway run at Inverness last year, and it was actually the fact that it was at midnight that made it "different" rather than being on a runway. They had rigged up a huge searchlight at the turning point, which was the only light apart from the small markers at the side of the runway, which don't really help you see. The searchlight seemed close, but took ages to get to. I felt like a moth. Enjoyable, but one to be run once, I think.

Unlike Ben Romach. [toddles off to EntryCentral]

Does anyone know how the scottish masters running is organised? Specifically for the marathon. In England there is the Chester event and there seems to be selection for official representation based on performance in a number of earlier races, eg:

englandathletics.org

I consider myself an expat Scot living in England but how is the actual distinction made?

(FWIW I know I'm not really that good but there's a chance I could get more competitive once I get into the V50 band and beyond.)
