I just looked at my results and there is no Falkirk! I must have mis-remembered! Did the trial event there before launch with Spikey and JammyKaz, then did at least one marshalling and one club grand prix but might have not gone in the funnel (it was a 32 plus minuter!)
The only thing that I think they could be a bit stricter on is volunteering. There seem to be a really large number of people who have done a lot of parkruns and never volunteered. Such a shame. It's half the fun! G

Just crunched our numbers through Dvoraks thought. Moray has 96000 population and we average 137 per week - so 14.7 per 10000 population - but our nearest other parkrun is 35 miles away.

There was a graph posted on the parkrun stats group that says the following:
54% of total runners are on 3 runs or fewer 90% are on 23 or fewer 95% are on 43 or fewer 99% are on 112 or fewer
where total runners is defined as 1 or more runs (around 2.2 million people), as opposed to registrations
So only 1% have done more than 112. probably my only time to be the top 1% of anything

Ah, good stats N. So over half are relatively new or infrequent. It would be interesting to know how many of those tried 1 or 2 ages ago and have never come back. Or whether most of the "once only" are in the last few weeks and could reasonably be hoped to be coming again soon? Great stats available for any stattos, with all that parkrun data! G

Would anyone mind if this runner from way south of the border joined this thread? Planning relocation to the Cairngorms from Dorset early next year (house sales etc permitting) - would be good to get a feel for the running scene in the Highlands. Marathons are the real interest but always keen to get involved. Recognise a few old faces on here.
Best clubs in the Grantown/Aviemore area?

Welcome Paul
Cairngorm Runners is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Old Croc may know if there are any others. There's also Highland Hill Runners based in Inverness, if that's your thing.
There are a couple of local marathons - Loch Ness and Glen Moray, and a fair scattering of halfs, 10ks and 5ks.
You'll have the Aviemore parkrun on your doorstep, with Inverness and Elgin 30-40 minutes away too. Always good for mixing with like minded people and finding out more about what's going on locally.
Good luck with the move.

Welcome paul a, your petrol/diesel bill is going to shoot up if you still plan on running as many marathons as you do at the moment
As well as the 2 Nessie mentioned, there's also Loch Rannoch in October which is reasonably close ( down the A9 to Pitlochry, and turn off along to Kinloch Rannoch ), and the new Stirling one that just happened 2 weeks ago and I assume will become annual.

Thank you all. The plan is to get to 300 by the end of the year, which should hopefully be just before we move. I can then enter 'semi retirement' from marathons and enjoy all those in Scotland that I haven't done before, as well as the odd trip south for old times sake.

Anyone here on Livi parkrun core team? I emailed yesterday about volunteering and never got a reply and again today but nothing. If they don't want me that's ok but don't know if I'm just being a bit keen in my need for a response 😂
