Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Welcome paul a, for when you arrive in Cairngorms area (will you be in a town like Aviemore or Grantown or are you actually just going to live on a plateau in the Cairngorm National Park?!) As Gus says, you're going to find that there are fewer marathons in Scotland and you need to drive a fair way. Lots of ultras though - are you thinking about going to the darks side, once your (huge) marathon goal is completed?

I might try and make it along to Livi parkrun again zee - it's my local after all. A v friendly bunch of marshals. I don't know the core team well, but just to say hi to. I'm sure they'll get back to you. :-) G

Thanks HappyG, probably Grantown or very close to. Looking forward to some new opportunities and finishing bagging my first round of Munros, which took a backseat when I fell into running. Not too worried about reduced numbers, after 300 i'll be happy with 20 or so a year.

Lol @ 20 marathons a year! I think 2 is a lot! You'll have some fab hill walking opportunities. And plenty of trail or hill running too - Gus will probably know some great routes up in that part of the world. My dad was from Aberlour, so I know the villages etc. round there, but don't know the running so well. Enjoy! :-) G

Welcom up north Paul A (from a real name Paul B - using middle name B)

What has been said above about clubs - Cairngorm Runners will probs be your local club (depends where you moving to exactly) but there is a good spread geographically a bit to your north ranging across from Inverness harriers and moving east to Nairn Road Runners then the Forres Harriers (finest of all) and Moray Road Runners in Elgin, a bit further east you have Keith & District. These are all to north of your area but not much in between in terms of clubs or towns to be honest.

Look forward to seeing you at some of our local events in near future then.

Lol OC. Good recruiting. He's fast. And if you can stop him doing a marathon every week he'd be even faster! :-) G

although I do hope he's not the person who has just emailed me asking why the link to entry for Glen Moray marathon isn't working - mainly because it's not on this year and he has been trying to enter the 2016 version on Entrycentral! Those entries closed a long time ago!
