Is there an indoor/outdoor thing? Austria has 100 indoor, 500 outdoor current limits for example.

Shame the D33 are short of volunteers on Saturday especially the 1/4 - 3/4 check point. There are usually at least 6 there but only 4 this year and only one of them ever done it before so going to be tight. Also short at the slug road crossing. If anyone free and could lend a hand I'm sure it would be appreciated

The decision to implement the 'gathering >500' rule Monday allows Edinburgh parkrun a little breathing room. But the timing seems suspiciously related to a certain well known football game hosted by a team in desperate need of money!

It’s gatherings >500 that need police/ambulance presence, to protect the emergency services. So parkrun doesn’t necessarily need to cancel based on that. Though I suspect it’s coming.

i think we could possibly be looking at an official shutdown for the best part of two months if what the boffins are saying are right, but the 'spike' isn't due for a while yet.
this is not a fun time to be a hypochondriac with an ifyy immune system *deep sigh*

The over 500 rule is going to be weird. Parkruns don't know how many they'll get. What if they are normally 450 and they get extra people turning up because other events have shut? Then they get 501 and they are in breach of the guidelines. They'll only know after the fact?!
And surely 20,000 at a football match is worse than 1,000 at a running event? For parkrun, just wear disposable gloves when handling the tokens. It's the only form of contact really, isn't it?

parkrun HQ have said that if they need to cancel one as per government regs, they will cancel all in the region

The reasoning NS gave was that events over 500 generally require police and first aid cover, and it's to reduce additional workload on them, more than the risk of attendees passing on to each other. So things like football matches, marches etc
What is not clear is that do events that gain over 500 attendees, but do not require police/first aid ( eg parkruns, cinemas, pubs, etc ) fall under this ban from Monday ?
I think we need clarification on that, and a lot of people confused at the moment

My prediction is enough people will choose to stay away that they will tend to be smaller than average. Though with lots of other things cancelled that could go the other way of course!
