Fellrunning, were you watching the same commentary? Boardman was good but Porter was painful at points.

Porter was appalling! My 10th year old was shouting at the Tele pointing out his errors.

This will be unpopular, but Mr Bean really doesn't do all that much for me (though I did laugh at his Olympics contribution last night).

That's popular with me. I can't abide Bean and it was all I could do not to be annoyed with him being in the opening ceremony.

Cool. We could form an OTDIFH anti-Bean club.

Bean (or Atkinson, in reality) deserves somewhat less opprobium than the Macca, I feel. Bean's dream sequence in Chariots was suitably irreverant without being slapstick. Macca just wheeled out a coupla singalongadirges.

Can we really blame Macca for allowing himself to be wheeled out as a National Treasure for all the big events? It's the organisers you've got to blame, surely?

About This Thread

Maintained by GregP
Regular listeners of FT will know about this one. What national 'treasure' do you feel would be better on a skip rather than on a pedestal?

Someone (an MK Dons supporter) proposed AFC Wimbledon, about whom everyone gets misty eyed but he hated.

Other nominations included Bruce Forsyth and Seb Coe.

We were discussing this on the Rugby Wire (whch unforgivably is *not* called "y wifren rygbi ") as Martin Johnson was nominated.

It was suggested that a wider audience might enjoy the challenge.
