Spose Mccartney's not really going to decline, if asked. He's unlikely to have the self awareness to say "no thanks, everybody's sick of the sight of me".

I have to say that Macca was much, much LESS dreadful than he was at the diamond jubilee

Another vote for the anti-bean camp. Too calculating.
Macca I have more time for. Clearly past it and blithely unaware of the fact, but he did write some great stuff in his day, and he's earned a bit of indulgence.

Can I just throw another "seconded" behind Fellrunning's Brendan Foster nomination?? I despise the avaricious, money-grabbing f*ckwit. It saddens me greatly that in the past I've been stupid enough to contribute to his pension fund (i.e. do the GNR etc).

Perhaps you might vault down off the fence, NE? Foster seems to have cornered the long distance racing market; about all he doesn't do these days is it

Steve, I probably should respect your advice, but right now I'm sitting right where I am. The man irritates me.

Adele. She's now a global force, has a massive fan-base (particularly in the U.S.) and for the life of me I can't work out why

Yep another vote for Macca. Was it just a coincidence that the whole event had been pretty much seamless until "he" came on and the sync went all over the shop? Paul you did a truly legendary thing with The Beatles but now you are just old, plastic, tiered and out of time, literally, please stop now.

The BB f&cking C.
Amateur hour or what. Saturday night, the Men's cycling was analysed by John McEnroe, Michael Johnson and Dame Kelly. The women's race, and our first medal had a highlight section commentated by matthew Pinsentt, then a forensic analysis of the subtle nuances of road racing by Gabby Logan interviewing Ian Thorpe and carl Lewis.
