Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm hopeful we'll get there in the end OuchOuch but I'm beginning to think it's going to be too late for London so I'll need to find another marathon to run a GFA for next year as I think Jersey will be too late. Oh for blue skies. It seems to be perpetually grey here.

Wardi - nice one on another 12m. I've pumped up car tyres with my bike track pump in order to get to the tyre fitters.

LMH - hopefully that week.off will sort you, I had to stop trying and take a week, tedious as it is.

Ouch - good days efforts. Plymouth have kicked on, luckily Pompey are going ok. Close to 50 points should be ok this year......yes run rinibg is an issue, the bike commute into a run isnt sustainable for longer runs as it burns too much time.....I need to be able to ru home and bsck the next day in order to run longer really.

Bike hill reps........again.

LMH how about Molton Keynes on May?
Nice going Wardi and OO some good miles.
Another steady sesh here, 8 miles with some tempo efforts.
Don't fret DT, all the hard work is done 💪

New tyre fitted today across town, managed to get the car there before it deflated again.

LMH.. the forecast for the weekend here looks a bit artic, sleet/snow and cold. It would be nice to see the sun again. Best of luck with your London plans, I had to miss 2024 due to injury.

OO.. a fine win for Plymouth. Hopefully the cup win will give them the confidence to drag themselves out of the relegation zone.
Nice run yesterday, I do envy your clear sky - very grey here & almost dark at 4pm.

TR.. good work on the bike reps again.

OO61.. nice 8m done. Where do you usually head for a run in your home area?

5.5m + 4m double today, grey again but light winds reduced the wind chill.

Evening

Sounds promising TR with your hamstring

Sorry yours is not improving LMH. I think my Achilles only improved when I stopped for a bit and just did rehab.

Nice double again wardi

Good running OO and OO61

No running today but physio exercises and calf raises. Felt tired from work (night 3 of 4 tonight and they have all been challenging in various ways).

Too soon from where I am now OO61. I'm thinking of Solway at the minute. I've been thinking about visiting your part of the country for a holiday - would you recommend it?

Looking pretty bad here over the weekend too Wardi.

My physio seldom recommends rest to me riggys so when she does I listen. Sorry to hear that work has been wearing.

I hope the bug passes, DT19. I would definitely err on the side of keeping things easy v ploughing on: you won't lose fitness, and you reduce the risk the bug gets worse.

Some glimmers of hope and improvement for TR, which is lovely to read.

I'm sorry that things aren't improving as quickly as it seemed they might, LMH. There's so many moving parts involved with the hammie that - in fairness to your physio - it's probably pretty difficult to work out how an unexpected injury has occurred. Fingers crossed this is a blip not a significant setback.

Nice work by both the OOs.

Nothing super exciting here: still doing between 3 and 5 runs a week, something between 3 and 10 miles each time, and keeping up the barre. I'm doing the odd bit of faster stuff (I did 5 x 3 minute efforts this morning), as I'm toying with the idea of road relays, although I can see that annoyingly this year the masters ones are north of Birmingham rather than south, which might affect our ability to get a team out - and whether I can get back for a choir concert that evening in time! (If they've been north of Birmingham for a few years, humour me: I've not been bothering to read the emails from our masters' team captain!)

ouchouch, that Liverpool win must have inspired them! Raw garlic im not sure about, can eat raw onion all day though!

oo, shame the physio appointment is also a wait, though you seem to be managing. When is/was the relay event?

LMH, sorry to hear the hamstring still isn't good. Still a few weeks to pay for London but yes, time is now closing in for proper prep. Unless of course you are happy to go there and just enjoy the 'parade'.

TR- sounds reasonably positive. Hopefully you'll get to 12 tomorrow without a problem. That's interesting re the rest period and trial the podcast guys are doing. I think we all get so drawn in to feeling like this time is peak period and we cannot miss a thing, that perhaps we do miss something different!

wardi- I have found the last few years (must be an age thing) that when I have a cold now, it isnt just the 4-5 days of the infection, im then generally in for a 2-3 week period of sticky grottiness and general stuffiness. Bad luck on the tyre! Some good running though.

Riggsy- im not sure I could take an eye injection. Lat time I visited an optician was June 1998!

Jools- arent the masters relays at Mallory park? I think they've been there a few years. It's a decent surface and totally flat. I ran my 10k pb there. Sounds like you are definitely doing a bit more than ad hoc leisure jogging now.

I ditched the session on Wednesday but just run the 10m that were scheduled easy with some strides. So whilst i've lost about 6.5m of workout i've still covered the distance to mitigate any loss. An easy 5m yesterday afternoon and feeling a lot better now, juts that post cold grot. Off out lunchtime for a hill pyramid session. It'll be easier for me not to push myself on that if I am not quite up to it as I wont be chasing paces like I would on a straight tempo type run.

Off to parkrun in the morning to meet a friend, first one of the year. Forecast is 1c, feels like -3 with what is a very sharp easterly wind blowing in. Just going to get round at mara pace I would imagine.

Sounds as though you are definitely on the verge of competing again Joolska! Hope it works out.

DT19 I need a GFA for next year with them only being valid for the one now. London would be a stressful and expensive weekend if I don't think I can comfortably run that. There are only what, six weeks of training time left?

About This Thread

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
