Had a look at your race times phynona and would broadly think that walking would only be necessary if you needed to! Jeffing (with "formal" walk breaks) is a fantastic training method but if you're chasing a good race time/pb ? then you can give it you're all!

Pretty good for nice and easy Pam runs! Four miles in dark and rain along trails this morning managing a whole minute on the runs! (I'll keep quiet about the walks!!). |

I've taken about 3/4 off running due to injury, covid, holiday and cba'd so as of next week I'm going to start back with a run/walk process again

Phew ...good effort Pam runs. I'm re starting a more "complete" training plan as soon as I've reached 1000 miles for the year which should be around mid November. Intervals will be on my agenda too although my starting point will be nowhere as good as yours |

Thanks @steve45 steve45 for your encouraging words! I just find it such a daunting jump from half marathon to full marathon... I hope your training is going well. 1000 miles is such a satisfying number |

Thanks phynona. The jump from half marathon to full marathon has generally always been the " natural" (!) progression unless you're lucky enough to find a 20 miler event -- which is rare nowadays. It sure is a jump, there's no getting away from it but if your longer runs have been progressive then you can chuck " daunting" to one side. Having said that there are many people who've done marathons on what really has been less than ideal training. So it can also be one's mental approach ( embrace confidence!) and also soaking up the atmosphere of such an event. Go for it!

I see you've done a 17 miler phynona, that shows you have a good endurance ready for the marathon. On the day you'll be buoyed by the event too , shouldn't cause you too much bother getting around the course.

Bit of a mixed bag today. 5x3min/90sec recovery. Slowest 3min was rep 4, 9.44min mile where I died and walked some. Others average 8.15 to 8.35min mile. |
