Run/Walk 210:150 12.68 miles 2 hours 23 minutes average pace 11:19 minutes per mile Happy with that to be honest, especially as under fuelled and dehydrated for the last thirty minutes due to my own stupidity. |

Good running there lin50. Thanks both for the good wishes for tomorrow. I'm not really expecting much other than an extension of the medication and maybe an increase in dosage. Maybe the consultant will ask for another exercise stress test but I wouldn't see the point, my efforts/pacing and how I feel haven't changed. 5.1miles (20 second run/60 seconds walk gives a good indication of how my body is under performing) was unbelievably tiring this morning. All in all disappointing although the weather was ok! |

Oops, sorry, missed your excellent 12.8 miles Fenners. Well done despite your self identified stupidity which is a bit harsh!

Ran just short of 3mile yesterday in 30min. Average pace 10.10min mile. Today did same route but run 5min/walk 30sec in 29.16min. Average pace 9.49min mile. My conclusion 30sec isn't really enough recovery and both felt hard. |

Popping in again. Wishing everyone well with their efforts. I have a half marathon race on September 15th, so exactly 2 months. I'm making Monday my long run day and today jog/walked 7 miles. Will up the mileage by one mile per week. 4 min:1 min jog/walk ratio today. Very steady, focused on keeping the heart rate down and ticking off the miles. Can look at maybe tweaking the ratio over the weeks.

Thanks everyone. Good 45 minutes consultation and exploration of everything that's not right! Re iterated the evidence from all my tests as to why I'm a plodder/walker this last three years! Can't recall the terminology but understand the issues and that the medication is prescribed to assist my body in getting back to its former "normal". A medication adjustment then for thirty days and then another review. Must drink more fluids to balance out effects of meds and not avoid salt ( which I've done for a fair while). Also said I won't harm myself by pushing/trying a bit harder. Good 3 miler Pam runs and a very impressive average pace. Good to find you here GeneHunt99, you've got a good regime going and wise to keep your HR where you want it. Following my consultant appointment yesterday I had a go at doing "runs" for longer than my usual 20-30 seconds. Phew...did I feel it but managed 1.48, 2.00, 1.58, 1.45 plus three one minute efforts. Good walks in between!!! Hope to do this once or twice a week and see what happens! |

Sounds like some positives coming from that consultation @steve45 - I guess when they say push/try harder, that still needs to be both gradual and in moderation. I hope the latest advice and the medication adjustment over the next month see more tangible results.
