This might sound like sour grapes, but the standard of refereeing throughout the tournament has been poor. Very limited use of the TMO. Also, the coverage on ITV ( presumably taken from NZ tv?), hasn't replayed the incidents.

We've just been saying the same
It wasn’t just me then. Back for the advantage that’s an attacking line out.
I’ve not seen enough games to comment on the refereeing (just two full games and two halves) but I suspect the local production company had a sub premiership match setup with camera angles etc

I felt that the ref’s microphone level was quite low compared to other tournaments I’ve watched, and with the background noise from the stadium it was hard to hear the calls. This might explain missing an “advantage over” call, assuming it was made.

Hard fought by fourteen ladies for nearly seventy minutes. I hope that with hindsight the Roses can be proud of their performances.

As a neutral I thought it was a brilliant match between two very different styles of team. Wonderful power and efficiency from the Red Roses but it’s hard to not love the Black Ferns, they play with such joy. A couple of points.
- I do think the two cards were different. The red had initial direct head contact, the yellow was on the shoulder first - yes, there was head contact and yes, it was close but, as with the mens internationals last weekend, refs are consistently using that as justification to downgrade.
- I didn’t hear the “advantage over” either and felt it was quite a short advantage. I think I would have gone back to the England pen
- For me there was a suspicion that Cokayne dropped the ball over the line for England’s final try. I was certainly surprised it wasn’t even looked at
- I was convinced England were going to nick it at the death but I think the line out call was telegraphed and over-cautious. Brilliant steal from the NZ player who I don’t think was even lifted.
Brilliant game, brilliant tournament.

They kept going to the front with the line out at the end didn’t they
Good for the future of the NZ womens game, it needs more funding and exposure. England have a revenge narrative for next time round at home

Yes it’s been gripping. I think it’s slipping away now though

They’ll rue those penalties conceded on the New Zealand line, and those few inches of Graham’s boot in touch.
