funkysoap - that was the one I was thinking of. I was thinking of trying them, just got to get round to it.

That's an idea I'll bring up at our meeting this week, Curly. The cup holder dispenser may be an issue.

V'rap, get them to ask the company that services the cooler - our surgery has a cone cup dispenser on the side of the cooler. Not sure if it's any different from a plastic cup dispenser. (pull down from the bottom)

I just heard an interesting point on “infinite monkey cage” podcast. You have to use a bag for life 147 times to make it better for the environment than a single use plastic bag. It’s a shame they didn’t go on to say what a better option would be.

I suspect I've used some of my old single use plastic bags 147 times. The checkout assistants go, "Would you like any help to ... ugh, I'm not touching THAT!"

At the end of 2017, 200 countries signed an EU agreement to reduce marine plastic......so here is something more news-worthy than companies green washing us with eliminating plastic straws. The EU is planning to ban a whole host of single-use plastic items + corporates who produce single-use plastic will be expected to contribute to the waste management and costs of cleaning it up. europa.eu Expect to see price increase on products listed as companies pass on cost. |

Funky soap was the website I deliberately checked before posting on here! Why did I not find it?? Weird. A friend of mine knows some of the people behind it...their kids are at the same school. I wonder why they don't have a gentle/ baby bar...

I've had my two reusable bags (envirosak or something) about eight years at a guess...I have not counted how many times I've used them, but it's a LOT.

*envirosax They're great. Two get carted around in whatever "proper" bag I'm using. |

The problem with the supermarket reusable bags (the plastic ones) is that they’re only slightly thicker than the ‘single use’ ones, and only slightly more durable, with slightly more plastic to recycle when they inevitably tear.
