Most of our shirts go in the post for £1.50, as a large letter 100-250g, which has a max size of 35x25x2.5cm - that would rule out A3 I think.

I was going to suggest an A4 envelope - if RonHill can send the shirts loose in a box without being in an individual anything, then it should be possible to fold them into A4 size which should go as large letter. Happy to help at a folding and stuffing event

Direct mail from Ron Hill to us would mean sharing personal data with them.

@RunFree - not sure when I last got a gift from a friend (perhaps I don't have any ;-) ). Mr G tends to give me my presents unwrapped and is also getting conscious about recycling.

If it was to happen then I would thank them, and when it is my turn then I would use something that was eco-friendly to start the conversation.

BTW, great thread which I have now managed to read through. I thought I was doing really well on the recycling front until the subject of single use came up. However, I have noticed that since we have given up eating quick/readymeal food the recycling bin is never full of plastic. Oh, and I did have to round up 10 apples the other week when they rolled off of the supermarket weighing machine. I need to buy myself a wicker basket and make time to get into town on a Saturday morning.

In the olden days when I used to order band t-shirts by mail, I remember receiving a large brown envelope with a t-shirt inside and no plastic wrapper. The postie used to stuff it through the letterbox.

Round up of receiving presents.....
- accept graciously
- reuse the plastic packaging for something else
- accept graciously and return the packaging to the sender to reuse.

... finally when folk think you are an eco-warrior they appear to feel guilty when ever you are around......you don't need to lecture them :p

normal plates, cutlery and glasses - have never had so many people at a party that I couldn't find enough normal - or camping (reusable) plates and cutlery for them. Won't match, mind - and some of the glasses will be old Nutella jars (the little ones)
